Enjoy Nature and wildlife at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Take a walk on a 2.25 mile raised boardwalk that takes you through four distinct environments including a pine upland, a wet prairie, a cypress forest, and a marsh. Interpretive signs are along the boardwalk, as well as benches and rain shelters.
Birding in Florida is at its best at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Almost 200 bird species are permanent or temporary residents of the Sanctuary. Its variety ranges from its signature wood storks to year-round white ibis and red-bellied woodpeckers and winter’s migrating warblers, painted buntings, summer tanagers and other colorful, songful species.
Wildlife sightings vary depending on the time of year, the weather, and even the time of day. Birds, reptiles, mammals, insects, and a variety of native plants including wild orchids may be seen from the boardwalk.
